President & CEO Tom Bate is a recognized leader in the coatings industry, holding eight patents and developing innovative products using advanced engineering polymers such as PAI, PI, PA, PES, PPSU, and PPS. As a founding member of the PTFE Developmental Group with DuPont, ICI, and Hoechst, he pioneered advancements in cookware applications, including industry-standard primers and solutions now used by companies like Volkswagen, Toyota, and Seiko Epson. Tom also holds a worldwide patent for copier roller technology utilized by IBM and led the development of water-based, low-VOC coatings. Dedicated to sustainability, he was instrumental in removing NMP, APEO, and PFAS from product lines, ensuring compliance with EU regulations, and designing industry-standard application lines and test methods.
